HR Practitioners often have to deal with a range of human emotions although as business partners, HR’s first responsibility is to play the role of policy custodians. Many HR Practitioners have shared that they often face the dilemma of having to convey adverse policy decisions in situations in which they may actually be sympathetic with the staff. In such instance, the HR Practitioner may feel an emotional weight upon their shoulders.
In the one day workshop, the HR practitioner will be equipped with skills on assertive communication to remain steadfast in their role as policy custodians. You will also be taught how to manage your own emotions so that you remain steadfast to your role as policy custodians. You will also be equipped with skills on basic counseling so that you can convey warmth and empathy in their contact with staff.
You will be equipped with skills on how to calm an angry and/or violent staff and circumvent manipulative staff. You will be equipped with skills on how to identify the warning signs of severe psychological imbalance in staff as well as how to respond in the face of critical crisis involving staff. You would also be provided with a list of references of mental health practitioners. Tips on self care after dealing with violent, angry and/or extremely emotional / suicidal staff will also be shared.
Participants will be invited to submit actual case studies from personal experience for discussion and effective resolution during the workshop. Participants will benefit from a hands-on approach and be actively involved in role plays, obtaining and giving valuable feedback and case study discussions.
The workshop is targeted at HR staff as well as managers, supervisors who are engaged with people management and any corporate staff who want to advance their career path by maximizing their management skills.
