Martin Gabriel began his career with the Ministry of Manpower (Singapore) as an Inspector, enforcing the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act. During his three years with the Ministry, he developed a deep understanding of labour regulations — an experience that inspired him to pursue a lifelong career in Human Resources.
With more than 25 years of HR experience, Martin is now the Chairman and Founder of HRmatters21, an established online HR interest group and professional forum where HR issues are actively discussed. Under his leadership, the community has grown to include over 3,000 HR professionals across Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
As a Senior HR Consultant and Advisor, Martin has provided guidance and consultancy services to hundreds of companies throughout the region, helping organisations navigate complex employment matters and strengthen compliance with labour laws.
An accomplished author, Martin has written five Human Resource books, each focusing on practical applications of employment legislation and HR case studies. His works are widely used as reference materials among HR professionals and business leaders.
Beyond consulting, Martin is a passionate trainer and educator. To date, more than 6,200 HR practitioners and line managers have attended his training programmes, benefiting from his expertise in employment law, performance management, and HR best practices.
Martin holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Double Major) from the University of Tasmania and a Diploma in Human Resource Management. He remains actively involved in advancing the HR profession and fostering continuous learning within the HR community.
